Starting from 2024, the latest cars sold in Malaysia will be equipped with next-generation license plates featuring an integrated electronic chip. This chip will store information about the owner as well as the car itself. The Director General of the Department of Road Transport in Malaysia, Ahmad Mustafa, reported that this innovation aims to combat car theft and counterfeit plates. Portable scanners, which will be provided to traffic police, will read the information from the chips in a short time. As a result, this will reduce the number of thefts, as criminals will not be able to easily replace license plates.

In addition, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced significant changes to the technical regulations of the World Rally Championship, which will come into effect in 2027. Next-generation cars will be more fuel-efficient and accessible for participation in competitions, which should attract new manufacturers to the sport.

Similar innovations in automotive engineering also pertain to diesel technologies, which still play an important role in the transport sector. Experts note that modern diesel engines are becoming more environmentally friendly and efficient, challenging the myths about their drawbacks.
