A conflict occurred on Kärberi Street in Lasnamäe between local entrepreneur Vadim and a police officer who was installing a mobile speed camera. Vadim claimed that the installation of such cameras is currently illegal and urged the officer to remove the device, threatening to do it himself. In Estonia, despite interest in average speed cameras, there are currently no plans for their implementation. Estonia's Deputy Minister of Climate, Sander Salmu, noted that existing photo radars do not meet technical requirements and legal standards, particularly regarding data protection. Speed cameras are already actively used in Latvia, where nearly 170,000 traffic violations have been recorded this year. In Riga, cameras that capture red light violations have recorded 24,000 offenses. The police plan to increase the number of such devices; however, critics point to the need to improve driving culture, rather than solely focusing on collecting fines.
